Before the war—

In an era when tonkatsu had yet to take root in the Kansai region,

The founder of Musashi visited Tokyo

And tasted tonkatsu for the very first time in his life.

He exclaimed, "It’s a shame that something this delicious doesn’t exist in Kobe."

So, from Uomachi in Himeji, where he and his wife ran an oden shop,

He moved to his beloved city—Kobe.

In 1939 (Showa 14)

He opened a shop in Sannomiya, which was still quiet at the time.

Because the founder, Mitsunori Kawatobi, admired

Miyamoto Musashi,

He declared, "We’ll take on the world with a two-sword style—tonkatsu and ebikatsu."

And named the shop Musashi.
